In the first six parts of this “Getting Started Internet Marketing” series we’ve discussed buying and hosting domain names, selecting profitable niches and installing and configuring a Wordpress blog on your new domain. In the last part we talked about finding and creating content for your blog.
Now it’s time to “Monetise” your blog … the bit you’ve been waiting for!
So what are the best ways to earn from your blog;
- Adsense
- Affiliate Referrals
- Selling Your Own Products
- Selling Resale Rights Products
Adsense
If you’ve already got an Adsense account, adding Adsense blocks to your Wordpress posts is easy. There are several Adsense Widgets that you can get free and install in seconds, take a look at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins, one that I use is Adsense Manager. (if you haven’t got an Adsense account, simply visit Google and click on the “Advertising Programmes” section below the search box to sign up!)
Adsense is an easy way to start earning, particularly if you’ve done your keyword research in advance as we discussed in an earlier lesson. To earn from Adsense all you have to do is bring visitors to your site and a percentage will click on the Adsense ads earning you income … how much depends on the keywords you’ve targeted.
To make a lot from Adsense, you really need to target multiple sites and niches … lots of sites earning you small amounts is easier to achieve than focusing on one site’s earning potential … the majority of people earning a lot from Adsense have created lots and lots of sites … with the right tools, site creation is easy … it’s just a case of having the discipline to stick to your plan and follow the same formula over and over again!
I really recommend that you take a look at Instant Wordpress. The package is cheap, and gives you 30 professional looking “Adsense ready” Wordpress themes to get you up and running quickly … with these themes there is no need to download an Adsense widget, you just enter your Adsense Id into your control panel and you’re away … each template is optimised for Adsense, with the blocks strategically placed to get you lots of clicks …
Not only that … you get 30 themes covering 30 different niches, and trust me, they cover all the profitable Adsense niches … !
Affiliate Referrals
The two sites I tend to concentrate on for finding and promoting affiliate products are Clickbank and PayDotCom. Using either site, you simply join as an affiliate for free, then search for products in your niche. When you find some that appear to have strong sales pages, just grab the affiliate code for the product and include it in the body of your post, or for permancy on your blog, add them in to one of your Wordpress sidebar text boxes.
Paydotcom now have a widget for your sidebar that displays random affiliate products targeted at your niche … you can get the code for the widget when you join as an affiliate … it’s a simple way to have targeted affiliate products showing on your blog.
Selling Your Own Products
Creating your own information products is not as difficult as it sounds, to find out how easy it is simply get a FREE copy of my “List Building Riches” ebook that shows you how to create and sell your own product in just a few days.
Selling Resale Rights Products
There are lots of products available on the web that come with Resale Rights, some free, some you have to buy … one advantage of these products is the work is all done for you, including a sales page! The downside is that resale rights are usually offered once the sales for the product are falling, so achieving large scale saes will be difficult … but that said, these products are an easy way of monetising your blog. I’m a member of SureFireWealth.com, where members get exclusive access to lots of quality products that have resale rights.
Another option is to find PLR products relating to your niche and “rebadge” them as your own and sell them. Private Label Rights (PLR) products are products that anyone can do with as they like without any copyright issues. The downside to a lot of these products is that they are often not very high quality.
So there you have it, a lot of ways to monetise your blog once you’ve added content to it. All are pretty easy to do, particularly Adsense. The other methods require some degree of research, but are still pretty easy to implement.
I do though strongly recommend you take a look at the Instant Wordpress package of themes. There is a theme for most niches, and they’re all professionally designed for promoting Adsense and Affiliate products …
