SEO Case Study - Can We Get Page 1 On Google?

I’m really jealous of a friend who up until recently I worked with. Why am I jealous? Because he’s escaped the corporate trap!
Ok so he’s older than me, but he’s still escaped … to a beautiful farmhouse (”gite”) in Southern France that’s got 18 acres of land!
He’s going to be renting out most of the farmhouse during the summer to pay the bills, but hey, its going to be a great life … sat in the sun drinking wine !!
So as he’s renting it out, he’s put a web site together. The web site is www.french-holidays-aude.com.
Now I’ve been telling him for ages how great internet marketing is, so now he has challenged me to get his site to page one of Google. As of today he’s 240th for the term “French Holidays Aude”. See the screenshot below:
I’m pretty sure I can get him to Page One … the purpose of telling you is so that you can monitor my progress … (my only worry is that he’s in the Google Sandbox as it’s a new site and may be in it for a while) … I’m pretty confident I can get him to the first page pretty quickly (Sandbox permitting) … once I have, I’ll show you how I do it … I’ll show you my “Essential SEO Tools” … 
So keep watching this blog … I’ll keep you posted … “literally” as to how his ranking improves …
