finding blog content

To get lots of traffic to your Blog, you need to post regularly, daily if possible, for at least the first few months. Initally, you’ll find it easy. Writing 20 – 30 articles won’t be difficult, even if you don’t have an interest in the subject of your blog.

But beyond those initial posts, how do you come up with ideas for further content?

Here are some methods I use for my blogs:

Keyword Research

Keyword research can be very inspiring. Using Keyword Elite, I pull together lists of keyword phrases that attract reasonable numbers of searches, but at the same time aren’t too competitive! I then write an article around each keyword phrase, being careful to ensure that the phrase appears in the title of the post and several times in the body.

Using Keyword Elite, you can quickly pull together a list of several hundred phrases to target, each of which will give you a chance of ranking well for and bring visitors to your site.

EzineArticles.com

Ezine Articles is a great site for finding content ideas. The site has a search box where you can enter a keyword and have related articles returned. For my niches outside of Internet Marketing, I usually find two or three articles, take the best tips from each and re-write a new article.

Combining this method with the results of your keyword research above can be a fast vehicle to creating unique, keyword focused content.

Read Other People’s Blogs

I also subscribe to quite a few blogs. When I see a post or review I like, I rewrite it and reference it on my blog (I also use trackbacks and comment on their sites to get inbound links to the page). Other people’s blogs can be a great inspiration for content ideas. Get yourself a feed reader and start subscribing to feeds (starting with mine) … you’ll never be short of ideas again.

PLR Content

Where your blog is specifically targeted at Adsense revenues, PLR Content can be a great source of content. Once you’ve completed your keyword research, match it up with PLR articles. To help get the content ranked in the search engines, simply change the title to incorporate your targeted keyword phrase, rewrite the first paragraph and the last.

There’s lots of PLR content available on the net covering virtually every conceivable niche topic. It’s great blog content, as long as you rewrite at least part of it as I suggest. With no changes it won’t rank as it’s already duplicated elsewhere. I use PLRWholesaler and Article Underground for my source of PLR content.

Re-Writing Your Own Content

I think we all like to believe that people visiting our blogs read all of our content word for word! That simply isn’t true. That’s why you should regularly revisit your own content and quickly re-write it to focus on a different keyword phrase. Similar to re-writing PLR Content, it can be a quick and easy way of producing quality content!

I also recommend carrying a small notebook at all times, so that when you think of a content idea you can note it for future reference.

If you can it’s great practice to have a list of your next 100 post titles in place, so that you can write one after the other and use the timestamp feature to publish them on a daily or twice daily basis.

Internet Marketing Blueprint

In the first five parts of this “Getting Started Internet Marketing” series we’ve discussed buying and hosting domain names, selecting profitable niches and installing and configuring a Wordpress blog on your new domain.

Now it’s time to add some content to your blog.

You now have some options:

- Write all your own content based on your own knowledge and research
- Write your own unique content using articles written by other experts
- Use Private Label Rights content
- Pay other people to write your content

It goes without saying that creating content for your site is a whole lot easier if you have good knowledge of the subject or at least an interest in it. That said, it’s not vital though. It’s a whole lot more important that you choose a profitable niche where there is money to be made (which we covered in Part 2 of this series).

In order for your blog posts to have a chance of ranking well, ideally they need to be your own unique content. Unique content is content that you’ve written yourself or had specifically written for you, in other words its not duplicated anywhere else on the web, it’s your content, you own it!

Writing your own content is time consuming, but when you’re starting out, unless you can afford to pay someone else to do it, you’re going to have to sit down and type!

Now, its not as difficult as it sounds, even if you have no knowledge of your niche subject. Simply search the web for your keywords and copy and paste the relevant information you find into a text document. Article Directories such as www.EzineArtcles.com are a great place to find content.

What you need to do is read several articles and re-write the best content from each to form your own newly researched unique article. Make sure you rewrite the whole article and use your own words to avoid any potential copyright issues.

Writing your own article using other peoples articles as research is perfectly valid as long as you write it in your own words, and use several articles for your research.

Using this method you can quickly generate numerous articles of between 300 and 800 words to be used for your posts.

I strongly recommend that you use some unique content on all of your sites, and as your earnings start to grow, you can start to outsource the writing to freelancers, take a look at www.elance.com.

Now your whole site doesn’t have to be totally unique, I recommend you use a mix of content sources for your blog posts.

Let’s consider Private Label Rights (PLR) Content.

There’s a whole ton of content available on the internet which comes with private label rights (PLR). PLR means that you can use the content as your own without any copyright issues.

The problem with PLR content is that it’s not unique, and in a lot of cases may already be duplicated across hundreds, if not thousands of sites. So if you use it without modification, you’ll never rank for it in the search engines.

To make PLR content valuable, you have to change at least some of it before you use it. The more you change the more valuable it will be to you in your mission to achieve high search engine rankings. As a minimum, you should change the title, the first paragraph and the last paragraph.

There are plenty of sites where you can get hold of free PLR Content. Two such sites that I use a lot and highly recommend are PLRWholesaler.com and SureFireWealth.com. Not only do they provide free PLR articles, they also have lots of PLR ebooks and software that you’re free to download and use in any way you like … either break them down into articles, give them away to build lists or sell them!

So now you’ve got ideas on how to get content for your blog even if you have no knowledge of the niche you’ve chosen. You’d be amazed how my knowledge has developed on subjects I had no knowledge at all on a couple of years ago! What matters is that the niche gets traffic and the keywords pay well on Adsense, or generate sales of affiliate products!
