How To Think Like A Successful Entrepreneur
Jun 20th, 2008 by admin

It’s important to think like a successful entrepreneur from an early age …
One entrepreneur sat his four year old son down and said
“It’s time for your lesson.” What’s two plus two?
The little boy said “Two plus two is Six.”
“No, son,” his father said, two plus two is not six. “Two plus two is four.”
“I’m sorry, father,” said the little boy. “I thought we were negotiating.”
Thinking one step ahead when it comes to making a deal is what all good entrepreneurs do!
To be a successful entrepreneur, either online or in the real world, you need to employ an “entrepreneurial mindset”. Most successful people share similar traits.
Firstly, entrepreneurs and millionaires are not afraid to take risks! In particular they have no fear of taking calculated risks, which are risks that carry a high probability of a positive outcome. Their riches come from calculated gambles. Not all will pay off, but the majority will, and each time one does, they get richer.
Most people are risk adverse, they prefer routes that have known destinations, such as security or a guaranteed monthly pay check! These people will hardly ever realise substantial wealth or freedom, and when they do it’s highly likely they’re too old to enjoy it!
Secondly, successful entrepreneurs aren’t afraid of failure, in fact, in most cases they are so sure they can achieve their goals they don’t even consider failure as an option. Self confidence and self belief are abundant in all successful people. On top of their belief, they have the ability to focus on their goals until they’re achieved, whereas so many of get easily distracted and stray from one project or goal to another.
Thirdly, the most important trait of all. Successful people take action! Most unsuccessful would “be” entrepreneurs talk about great ideas or read ebook after ebook without actually doing anything with their ideas or knowledge! When a successful entrepreneur sees a potential opportunity they seize it! They take action to make things happen!
A fourth trait I’ve noticed in successful people is their ability to hunt out and befriend influential contacts, people who are the movers and shakers in their markets! I guess this is all down to their self belief and confidence as mentioned above. They don’t hesitate to pick up the phone and sell themselves to others, and ask for help!
A fifth trait is that of persistence. Successful people are not put off by failures or set backs, they persevere!
So the burning question is of course, can you develop the traits in your self?
It’s an interesting question. My answer would be that some of the traits are easier to develop than others, but all can be developed to some degree.
So the next question is how do you develop them?
We’ll discuss this key question in Part 2 tomorrow!
